I watched every movie in the Children of the Corn franchise, and here's my take on it. The series started strong with the 1984 original, a decent early-80s horror film that closely followed Stephen King's short story. It made a good amount of money and set the stage for sequels. However, the series took a turn for the worse with the second installment, 'Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice,' which was rushed into production and felt all over the place. The series continued to decline with each subsequent film, losing continuity and originality. The later movies were straight-to-video releases, with the exception of the 2009 remake, which was a decent effort but lacked the original's impact. The franchise should have ended with the first movie, but the producers' lack of vision and care led to a series of forgettable and generic horror films. It's a shame, as the original story had some impressive staying power and could have been a memorable franchise. In my opinion, the Children of the Corn series is best left to completionists and King fans, and it's not worth watching unless you're a die-hard fan of the genre.
